"Plants work wonders."
When I moved here from Tokyo, the garden was full of weeds.
We started planting herbs, flowers, and trees.
We couldn't grow as much as we wanted. We lost some plants, and the moles destroyed others. However, we took care of the garden by making compost and spreading bamboo charcoal. Slowly, the whole garden started to change.
Before I knew it, the weeds had diminished, and groundcovers such as dicandra and luppia had spread.
Now, we have over 100 varieties of flowers, herbs, and fruit trees. The fruit alone includes lemons, persimmons, chestnuts, plums, yuzu, cherries, figs, mulberries, Juneberries, cucumbers, blackberries, blueberries, gummy berries, club apples, and many more.
Throughout the year, birds of all kinds have come to visit us.
Our garden is home to a variety of wild birds, as well as owls, rabbits, raccoons, cats, and kookaburras.
Every winter, flocks of swans from as far away as Siberia make the nearby waters their home. We can watch them fly in a V formation, accompanied by their beautiful calls.
Winter is cold and frosty, but it is also a time when I am deeply happy to have moved here, especially when I see the many stars shining in the night sky.
In this garden alone, I can sense the slow changes over the years and briefly feel that I am part of nature's great flow.
When I am touched by the energy, beauty, and grace of the growing plants, I feel refreshed and inspired to create.
It seems to me that when I pay attention to and talk to the plants, they respond.
This is the inspiration for the motifs I use in my accessories.
I also see plants, trees, and flowers along the paths I walk.
May the energy of the plants reach you.
